It’s always so much fun when we get snow in Victoria! We put some big shovelfuls of snow into the water table and beside it, on a small wooden table, offered a variety of utensils, scoops, funnels, eye droppers, popsicle holders and most exciting of all, cups containing a variety of rainbow colours. (water with a bit of food colour)
The children were very interested in the snow and worked for a long time mixing colours, adding colours to the snow, shaping the snow, lifting it with scoops and spatulas. They were not at all bothered by the cold!
C announces “I made dark green ice.” M replies “This is Zombie brain!” “Dump it all in here” says C and the boys move snow with scoops and lifters, pat it down and add colour. I says “I’m putting some zombie brain in here” “Isn’t that amazing?” says C, adding ” “Guess what this is called… ghost zombie blood” His friends help him fill up the Popsicle holder. M puts red colour on his hand. “Look, my hand is bleeding! Oh my hand, my hand!” he shrieks with a big grin. The children all laugh. C says “I need more potion in here.” I helps by adding drops of various colours. “Here you go” he says. “My potion is amazing, look at my rare stuff!” C: “I’m squirting some of the dinosaur potion to the blood potion. I: “I’m adding some ingredients to mine.”
