Tanya Burnett – Carrot Seed Supervisor and Teacher

I have been working in early childhood education for over 20 years.  I have also studied special needs care.   I have always had a passion for working with children and they never cease to amaze me in their desire and ability to learn. I truly believe that when we give children the opportunity to explore their interests in their own way,  they will come away with so much more than being told what they should be learning.

I received my B.A. in Child and Youth Care in 2003, and have been a teacher and special needs worker at Carrot Seed since 2008.  I am also a music teacher, and I love bringing songs and stories into every day life.  I am passionate about play and giving children new opportunities to learn and grow.  My favorite thing about working at Carrot Seed is supporting children as they develop a sense of wonder and discovery!

I graduated from Camosun College in 2014 with my Early Learning and Care Diploma including Infant and Toddler and Inclusive Care education.  I worked in the field for 3 years and really enjoy the preschool environment and energy of the children.  Having completed a practicum here at Carrot Seed I am very excited to be back with the team.  I am passionate about bringing the focus of children’s lives back to play and exploration, I believe it is the best and most natural way they learn.  With a nurtured imagination anything is possible!
